Toilet Repair & Installation

Running, Leaking, Weak Flush, or Time for a Replacement

Toilets are usually the most-used fixture in a house, and they’re one of the most common service calls we get. Most toilet problems are quick fixes once you know what’s wrong. Some are signs that the toilet (or what’s underneath it) needs to be replaced. Doro Plumbing handles all of it, from a quick flapper swap to a full removal and replacement on a new wax ring.

Common Toilet Problems We Repair

Running toilet – water keeps cycling into the bowl long after a flush. Usually a flapper, fill valve, or chain adjustment. Cheap parts, quick fix, and worth doing because a constantly running toilet wastes thousands of gallons a year.

Weak or incomplete flush – usually a clogged jet rim, partially closed water supply, or worn flush valve. Sometimes a sign of a partial obstruction in the trap or further down the drain.

Leaking at the base – this is the one to call about. A toilet leaking at the base usually means the wax ring has failed, and water is getting into the subfloor. Left alone, this rots the floor structure and can require subfloor replacement before you can even reset the toilet. We pull the toilet, install a new wax ring (or a wax-free seal where appropriate), check the flange condition, and reset properly.

Leaking from the tank – usually a worn tank-to-bowl gasket, a cracked tank, or loose tank bolts. Easy fix in most cases.

Phantom flushing – water level drops in the tank without anyone flushing. Almost always a leaking flapper.

Wobbly or rocking toilet – the closet flange may be broken, the bolts loose, or the floor under the toilet damaged. Worth fixing promptly because a rocking toilet eventually breaks the wax seal.

Constantly clogging – if a toilet clogs more than once a week and it’s not a kid issue, the problem is usually the toilet itself (low-flow models from the early 1990s are notorious) or a partial obstruction further down the line.

Toilet Installation & Replacement

Replacing an old toilet is one of the better small upgrades you can make to a house. Modern toilets flush better than the early low-flow disasters from the 1990s, use far less water than older 3.5+ gallon models, and offer comfort-height options that are easier on knees and backs.

What we install:

We handle everything from selection to install: removal of the old unit, inspection of the flange, replacement of the wax ring or seal, supply line replacement if needed, leveling and shimming, and full leak testing before we leave.

What to Look For When Picking a Toilet

A few things actually matter when choosing a new toilet:

We’re glad to recommend specific models for your situation, and there is no upcharge for picking up the unit you’ve selected.
